My Life With Video Games Pt 1 - Sega Megadrive
My brother got this Sega Megadrive for Christmas 1992, just under a month before I was born. My parents got it for him so he had something to occupy himself with while they were dealing with me... I wonder if my parents now regret that because that console was where my love for gaming began.
I don't remember playing it when I was really really young but apparently I would try to play it when I was around 1 or so. When I was 3 I was getting damned good at the games we had (particularly Sonic, Aladdin, Toy Story and Columns) and would continue to play these games for a few years until the console was forgotten for a little while once being replaced with a brand new Playstation.
Having rediscovered the console when I was 10 or 11 years old, I couldn't plug it in fast enough. I remember really really cold days in winter of 2004 staying home from school sick and playing games in front of the fire place which I remember as just the best thing ever at the time. When I bought the game Sonic Heroes for the Playstation 2 I thought "This is ok, but I wish I had the original still" - Oh yeah, I have the Megadrive!
Unfortunately the Megadrive I used as a kid didn't work any longer but I had borrowed somebodies Megadrive 2 because I had let them borrow my Playstation (which, incidentally, I never saw again :-() and boom, I was back into retro gaming.
So this is the console that got me into video gaming in the beginning and later on again in '03.
